Hino Australia and Schools Plus Donate to Benefit Students in Sutherland Shire Schools

Hino Australia and its charity partner, Schools Plus, have shown their generosity by providing support to deserving schools in the Sutherland Shire. This support will enable students to engage in additional sport and STEM opportunities during the upcoming year.

Bates Drive School, which enrolls 70 students from Kindergarten to Year 12 who face various challenges such as managing their emotions, physical or intellectual disabilities, autism, or mental health issues, will benefit from Hino's support. The Principal of Bates Drive School, David Toogood, expressed gratitude for the donation, stating, "The support from Hino will enable us to continue a school sports initiative with the Cronulla Sharks Rugby League Club. Young players from the Sharks' Jersey Flegg Cup side will be engaged as School Learning Support Officers and will visit the school to deliver a tailored, personalized rugby and sports program for our students. Movement skills are a core component of supporting students to stay emotionally regulated, build play and communication skills, and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle."

At the Dunlea Centre, the funding provided by Hino and Schools Plus will be used to upgrade technology equipment, resources, and education software. This will allow the school to offer more opportunities to students in the fields of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths). Paul Mastronardi, Executive Director of Dunlea Centre, emphasized the importance of STEM education, saying, "STEM is the school's fastest-growing subject area, and a dynamic, creative, and modern STEM program will be a valuable tool in preparing our students for future career paths. We are grateful to Hino Australia and Schools Plus for this opportunity to help our students reach their full potential."

Hino President and CEO, Sam Suda, expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing partnership between Hino Australia and Schools Plus, stating, "With a heritage of almost 30 years in the Sutherland Shire, it is important to Hino Australia and our employees that we continue to provide opportunities for our local community. This is the third year of supporting the program, which continues the legacy that our parent company Toyota started in 2017."

Rosemary Conn, CEO of Schools Plus, commended Hino for their generous support, saying, "We are so proud to be partnered with Hino, who has always provided generous support in our efforts to help students reach their full potential. Similar partnerships like this allow Schools Plus to facilitate programs for children not just within the Sutherland Shire but on a national level."

The collaboration between Hino Australia and Schools Plus is a testament to their commitment to supporting education and providing opportunities for students to excel in sports and STEM subjects. Their donation will undoubtedly make a significant impact on the lives of deserving students in the Sutherland Shire schools.
